Almond Oil may be one of the single healthiest natural compounds we could have found for your lips. We’d like to take a moment today to tell you why.
Before we get into the nitty-and-not-so-gritty, though, it’s important that you know that there are two types of almond oil out there for your skin, which will tell you why we’ve chosen the type we have.
One of those types is bitter almond oil, which comes (of course) from bitter almonds. You don’t want bitter almond oil anywhere near your lips, because it contains amygdalin, which is metabolized into hydrocyanic acid (better known as cyanide.) Yeah, that one was not going into our lip balm!
The second type is sweet almond oil, which not only won’t poison you, but tastes great and has a whole host of benefits whether it’s in your stomach or on your lips.
While it’s an excellent moisturizer, sweet almond oil also promotes moisture absorption of the skin and is an excellent source of Vitamin E, Vitamin A, and Vitamin B, all things your skin craves.
